I opted to use russh, which is a Rust implementation of the SSH protocol and ssh-agent for greater memory safety. It allows importing settings and keys from OpenSSH as well as creating, updating, showing and deleting keys. Whenever a program requests using the key for signing, a prompt is displayed to the user for confirmation. This way: 1. Your keys don't get leaked (unless the server process' memory is dumped, but that requires root on *nix systems) 2. Your keys don't get misused and inadvertedly sign something malicious. How it works is that you post your gltf model to a hosting space of your choice, and let our web service know the url to the gltf file. Then web service generates a zip file that has 3d engine included and unzipping it to your hosting space directory (again the same operation) lets you display the 3d model in a web page. Final touches come with ordinary embed tag which just need to find the index.html that was stored in the zip file and specify the size of the canvas with width/height tags. Embed allows you to include instance of 3d engine to your own articles and web pages.

I didn't like google analytics for obvious privacy reasons, and I didn't like the existing self-hosted options because of how complicated they are. I always wanted a simple, basic tool, similar to plausible, but even simpler. So a few weeks ago I rebuilt my prototype into a reusable tool. And I made it open source. I built a website, a documentation, and I'd be excited for someone else to try it too. Who knows, maybe if enough people like the idea, I might even make it into a SaaS to save non-technical people the hassle of self-hosting. Anyhow, I hope someone likes it.
